Canadian Lynx  - Geoffroy's Cat

Lynx canadensis - the Canadian lynx, has characteristic snowshoe-like feet designed to assist them in their travels across snow covered habitat.  This species averages around 30 to 40 pounds at maturity.  Only slightly heavier then a bobcat, but the frame of this feline is much longer, taller and leaner.  Another distinctive characteristic of Canadian lynx are the large mutton chops and the black tuffs of fur extending off the tips of their ears.

Oncifelis geoffroyi  is a South American feline that averages only 6 to 10 pounds at maturity.  This feline has both a spotted and melanistic color phase.  These cats are very adaptable, being found in many habitats such as forest, scrub and mountains.  They can tolerate cold and heat well. N.O.A.H. Feline Conservation Center is an active participant in the  Geoffroy's Cat Species Enhancement Strategy.
